Addict to Non-Information
Installation, 2019
Combined with Animation GIF & Sound. Gold foil door curtains, 5 Monitors
Size varies
This work is based on my observation that Chinese people are very enthusiastic about short video media such as Tik-Tok, and I find that people will unknowingly indulge in such extremely low-information and exaggerated videos, even some like soft drugs. Under such circumstances, people automatically disarm their ability to think and their time and energy to earnestly live, which also passivates the major contradictions in the real world outside their screens, because they have been comforted in this world. Over time, they will lose patience with serious topics and lose judgment on the information they receive.
It is like an instinct to look at the looping and meaningless images in front of the eyes, because it is difficult to struggle once it is caught, the work is to attract people into an enclosed space with gold foil door curtains through the light on the screens. Viewers are surrounded by three sides of monitors by flashing and colorful animation with monotonous music.
